The Canadian Matcha Tea Association says the government is providing a $30 million funding boost to help the country’s Matcha industry grow.
The group says the money will go to a range of projects including matcha-making and the expansion of existing production facilities.
It says the $30-million investment is the largest single investment in the tea industry in Canada in decades.
In a statement, the association said it hopes the funding will create jobs and boost economic growth in the industry.
The association says there’s also a $15 million matcha and matcha product in production.
It also says it’s encouraging other businesses to create more jobs, including tea processing.
